Socialism and Democracy

by admin ·

Very recently, a visitor and commentator, who probably had seen evil Gallery presented authorities with this site, was surprised that the author was declared socialist, a participant and supporter of this doctrine so outdated and totalitarian practice as barbaric and ineptitude irrevocably were demonstrated in 1989.

If Westernize tendinitises to all our reality, the trial transcript before it would be highly questionable, given the high probability that a communist regime, which also comprises one-sixth of the world population is the maximum power in a couple of decades . This is not, however, the criterion that I am worth to declare humbly socialist, but rather the application of the parameters of efficiency, power and success that conservatives and liberals used to identify an example for the United States.

The State of the Race

by admin ·

The New Republic has a short but convincing piece up on just how favorable the landscape looks for Barack Obama right now. This chart is the basic meat of it:

Just look at the massive gains we’ve made since 2004. Among the late Boomers, we’ve seen an insane fifteen point swing to the Democrats. We’ve also gained eleven points among young voters. While it’s the gain in late Boomers that will put us over the top, it’s the gain in young voters that shows which direction this country will be headed for the conceivable future.

This is the best news I’ve heard in a long, long time. From the Obama campaign:

Senator Obama appreciates the hard work that Chairman Dean has done to grow our party at the grassroots level and looks forward to working with him as the chairman of the Democratic Party as we go forward.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Was a Republican?

by admin ·

So, there’s a campaign going on in my home state to inform the black population that Martin Luther King was a Republican. Adam Fogle at The Palmetto Scoop takes a look at it here.

I won’t argue the point that Martin Luther King was a Republican. I don’t have his voting history, but it’s not unlikely that he was. That said, the implications of this campaign (and Adam’s post) are highly misleading. Yes, the Republican Party did have a fine history as the party that ended slavery, however, while Democrats may have entered the 20th century as the party of slavery, by the 1960s, those Democrats that still held the party’s former racist views were located predominently in the South and over the next few decades, they either switched to the Republican party or the were voted out of office.
