Majority Leader Clinton?

by admin ·

This is a good idea. In fact, this is a good idea regardless of whether it gets Hillary out now or is given to her over the summer. Sen. Reid still surprises me every once in a while, but I find it hard to imagine that Clinton wouldn’t make for a far more effective leader.

End Game

by admin ·

Despite recent party bigwigs doing their best to push Clinton out of the party sooner rather than later, I’m thinking this will go through the end of the contests on June 7th. That said, I have little fear that this will actually drag on until the convention in August. Even though Sen. Clinton has stated that she’s willing to go to those lengths, after June 7, one candidate will be ahead in pledged delegates and popular vote. Barring some sort of stunning turnaround, that candidate will be Barack Obama. I just don’t see the superdelegates sitting idly by after that point (as party elders, they know how damaging a contested convention will be), nor do I imagine that Sen. Clinton will be able to hold on to the majority of her current superdelegate supporters.

Pushing Hillary Out

by admin ·

Well, it looks like the official campaign to pressure Hillary out of the primary has begun:

* Gov. Dean believes all superdelegates should endorse by July 1st, thus sparing the party of a nasty convention fight.
* Pennsylvania senator Bob Casey endorses Obama, despite originally pledging not to endorse.
* Sen. Chris Dodd calls upon superdelegates to decide the race.
* Patrick Leahy calls on Clinton to drop out.

New Hillary Clinton Ad: It’s 3 A.M.

by admin ·

This is the kind of fear-mongering nonsense I’d expect from a Republican. But from one of our leading Democrats? Her campaign gets sadder by the day. Who in the world is making the decisions on this stuff? Is this another Penn tested piece? Because I’ll take my gut reaction over his polls any day, and this ad is going to backfire hugely for the campaign. I can’t imagine any Democrat being swayed by this GOP-lite approach. Pathetic.

McCain’s Environmental Record for 2007

by admin ·

The League of Conservation Voters just released their scorecards for 2007. John McCain, that moderate, maverick, straight-talking machine scored a whopping zero percent. So, again for those Democrats who think Obama or Hillary will be the end of the party and will thus rather vote for McCain, a “reasonable” conservative, in 2008, remember that there is nothing reasonable about that man. He couldn’t find one pro-environmental bill in all of last year that suited his tastes, which puts him in the same league as ultra-conservatives Trent Lott (R-MS) and John Cornyn (R-TX).

Hillary Clinton Wants FL and MI to Count

by admin ·

This is an unbelievably low point of the Clinton campaign. She wants delegates from the states that were stripped of those delegates by failing to adhere to the Democratic primary schedule. Nobody campaigned in Michigan, and she was the only one on the ballot there after the other main contenders took themselves out of that race in respect of Democratic Party rules. These delegates would not actually reflect the will of the voters because they didn’t have any other viable options besides Clinton.
